Technics SC-C50

The WLAN-enabled premium speaker Technics Ottava SC-C50 leaves nothing to be desired in terms of functions, design and possibilities.
.
Four JENO engines
The four JENO engines deliver an impressive performance. They drive the subwoofer, the midrange and tweeters in a controlled manner, resulting in an excellent spatial image. This guarantees coloration-free sound and optimizes the listening conditions in different room situations using the Space Tune function.
.
LAPC
LAPC is an original Technics technology that works adaptively in conjunction with speaker load. It measures the amplifier’s phase characteristics over the entire frequency range with connected loudspeakers and uses the latest digital signal processing technologies to achieve an ideal impulse response. Typical parameters are already pre-stored in the LAPC circuit in order to achieve ideal frequency and phase characteristics over the entire frequency range.
.
space tune
Space TuneTM adapts the sound processing to the listening environment so that the SC-C50 speaker can optimally deliver its excellent sound quality in every room and in every listening position. In addition to the three preset room adjustment modes (free, close to a wall, close to a corner), a microphone built into the housing enables sound optimization via a so-called “Auto” function. In addition, an iOS device can be used to measure the actual frequency response with even greater precision and adapt it to the room situation. This allows you maximum sound quality regardless of the existing room situation and placement.
.
Full Compatibility
In addition to USB playback and analogue and optical (TOSLink) input, the SC-C50 supports Bluetooth, Airplay, Google Chromecast, Spotify, Tidal and playback from an internal network (e.g. from a NAS device). This means that a large number of music sources can be conveniently played back via a single player. However, high connectivity also means multi-room capability, the interconnection of two units to form a stereo pair and a WLAN function. The SC-C50 speaker also works with both iOS and Android apps.

Control AppElegant and timeless design
Form and functionality have entered into a particularly successful alliance with the SC-C50. The solid aluminum housing cover increases the housing rigidity and contains a ring-shaped control panel with a modern OLED display, which makes operation a pure pleasure. The rib design on the back exudes elegance while also serving to dissipate heat for the circuitry inside. The shapely curves of the front and back serve to eliminate unwanted housing vibrations and elegantly accommodate the loudspeaker chassis, which radiate the sound over a wide area. This allows you to place the SC-C50 flexibly without sacrificing spacious sound reproduction. Black and white are available as color variants.Compact housing with spacious imaging
The arched housing has three mid-range drivers, three tweeters and a subwoofer. The arrangement of one mid/high unit on the left, one on the right and one in the center of the housing ensures full stereo imaging and crystal-clear voice reproduction. Horn designs with so-called “controlled directivity” avoid mutual speaker interference. The coaxial arrangement of the midrange and tweeter ensures vertical sound radiation with less diffraction effects from the compact cabinet.Solid cabinet structure for undistorted power
Three 16 mm tweeters ensure high-resolution high-frequency reproduction up to 50 kHz. The bass range is processed by a 12 cm long-throw woofer as a subwoofer in conjunction with an elongated bass reflex channel with a large diameter. A total of seven driver units, built into a rigid glass fiber housing, together with a 3.1-channel amplifier, ensure a powerful sound. Dual switched-mode power supply
Normal power supplies use a single transformer to power the amplifier and digital circuitry. When load fluctuations or noise occur in one of these circuits, other circuits are affected, which adversely affects sound quality. The power supply system in the SC-C50 is based on independent switching power supply sections, which supply the amplifier and the other circuits separately, thus avoiding mutual interference. This means that disturbances caused by noise or load fluctuations remain outside. A sophisticated layout with the shortest signal paths also contributes to minimizing noise.
.
Integrated Chromecast
The Chromecast feature supports a wide variety of music streaming services, allowing for easy transmission via smartphone app. Since the data is streamed directly to the main unit, there is no negative impact on the sound quality. The user can choose from a very extensive range of music genres.
Logo: Integrated Chromecast
.
Connection with Google Assistant
When a Google Voice-enabled speaker is on the same network, the Google Assistant can be used to trigger music playing or other functions on the SC-C50 speaker. If you don’t have a smartphone or don’t have a free hand, you can easily control the music with voice commands.
.
Multiroom and stereo pairing*
If there are multiple Google Chromecast speakers in the house, the same song can be cast to multiple rooms at the same time, or different tracks can be cast to different rooms. By connecting two C50 loudspeakers together in a stereo pair, the user can enjoy fantastically spacious stereo reproduction.
* The Google Home app is required.
.
If you also use the Technics Audio Center app and have another app compatible with Technics devices, you can also use other music sources such as Bluetooth, AUX, optical input, USB, internet radio and C50- compatible music streaming services. With two SC-C50 speakers set to stereo, you can look forward to first-class stereo sound*.

Technics SU-C700
The fully digital signal processing of the SU-C700 stereo integrated amplifier guarantees precise control of the connected loudspeakers and enables an unparalleled music experience with high transparency, a great wealth of detail, a great deal of naturalness and perfect stage imaging.
.
JENO Engine (Jitter Elimination and Noise Shaping Optimization)
The SU-C700 is an all-digital amplifier that processes high-resolution digital signals without noise and distortion and delivers them to the loudspeakers. Technics has developed a completely new jitter reduction circuit to prevent the effects of digital jitter on the music signal. This circuit consists of a clock generator for noise shaping to reduce jitter in the low frequency range and a high-precision sample rate converter in the high frequency range. To prevent errors when converting to PWM (pulse width modulation), Technics has developed a new PWM converter assembly. The circuit optimizes the noise shaping speed, the degree of requantization number and the PWM gradation; thus, the conversion into PWM signals is achieved without damaging the dynamic range of the high-resolution signals. The SU-C700 clocks both the noise shaping and the power output stage twice as fast as a conventional digital amplifier. As a result, it provides high-precision amplification with extremely low noise.
.
LAPC (Load Adaptive Phase Calibration)
Technics has developed a function that enables the amplifier to measure the phase and impedance properties of the connected loudspeakers and optimize them accordingly so that the impedance characteristics of the low-bass filter on the output side do not affect the frequency representation, as is the case with conventional digital amplifiers. This optimization algorithm works with digital signal processing and thus achieves an ideal impulse response. The correction processing based on this new algorithm achieves a flat frequency response in contrast to conventional amplifiers – both in amplitude and in phase. The result is sound reproduction with a very precise spatiality.
.
Ultra-fast, low-noise linear power supply
The stabilized power supply circuit reacts precisely to high power requirements. The combination of very current-resistant Schottky diodes, a rectifier circuit with electrolytic capacitors and extensive voltage stabilization guarantees a generous power supply under all conditions.
.
Battery operated clock generator
In digital audio, improving clock precision plays an important role in sound quality. The clock-giving assembly is the reference point for all digital processes. However, the noise from the power supply is detrimental to the clock circuit, which is why Technics introduced the battery-powered clock circuit. This has already been used successfully in analog amplifiers in the past. The result is improved clock precision, resulting in a more defined sound image and delicate spatial expressiveness.

Technics ST-C700D
Perfect music playback without noise and disruptive distortions – this is guaranteed by the new network audio player ST-C700D.
.
Digital Noise Containment Architecture
The new jitter remover doesn’t give jitter effects a chance – while a common mode filter is used at the network input, a pulse transformer blocks external noise at the digital SPDIF interfaces. Ruby Mica also pays attention to high quality with the mica capacitor of the interface of the USB input. No wonder, then, that the USB input has a bus power conditioner with a non-magnetic carbon film resistor that is insensitive to the deformation of magnetic materials in the magnetic field.
.
Virtual Battery Operation
Virtual battery operation reduces noise in the power supply by allowing the circuit to charge the capacitor at the same time. During music playback, the system turns off this circuitry to prevent power supply noise that would corrupt the signal with crosstalk. Virtual battery operation thus improves location and spatial imaging.
.
Intelligent circuit activation
The intelligent circuit activation monitors all circuits and switches off digital assemblies such as the display, network, USB and SPDIF interfaces when they are not needed. This means that the noise that naturally occurs in these assemblies cannot impair music reproduction through crosstalk.
.
Technics Music App
The Internet, and specifically the spread of broadband transmission, has changed the way we enjoy music, access media and operate devices today. Listening to music has become much more flexible, more comfortable, but also more versatile. Technics has therefore developed a comprehensive operating system for all processes: from selecting the music source to controlling the playback process, you have everything firmly in your hands. After all, at Technics the joy of enjoying music comes first.
With the new Technics Music App, you can intuitively select a music source and playback devices using your mobile device. Or you can create a new playlist in no time. The Music App interface shows you the content of DLNA-compatible servers and connected USB storage devices at all times – including the device on which you are currently using the Technics Music App. So you have full playback control! if e.g. For example, if the SU-R1 is combined with the SE-R1, you can use the Music App not only to control the volume and playback, but also to regulate the bass, middle and treble.
.
High-Res Re-Master
The new signal processing converts CD quality and other lossy, compressed audio signals into high-resolution signals while expanding bandwidth and bit resolution. The high-resolution Re-Master technology converts audio signals in resolutions up to 192 kHz / 32 bit; the result is an expressive sound that is closer to the original than ever before.
.
Extremely low-distortion digital filter
With digital signals, a so-called aliasing effect occurs up to the Nyquist frequency (fs / 2) on both sidebands of the sampling frequency (fs) due to the sampling due to the mirror images of the signal. The oversampling filter using the Technics algorithm removes this unwanted mirror image down to the -160 dB threshold or lower and reproduces a sound image with a high degree of spaciousness.
.
High-quality analog outputs
Thanks to its high-quality analog circuit layout, the ST-C700D also offers excellent playback quality at its analog outputs. This is ensured by the low-noise digital noise isolation architecture, a high-precision clock generator and the high-quality D/A converter (Burr-Brown PCM1795). The assembly after the D / A converter houses a non-magnetic film resistor, a low-loss film capacitor and an audiophile op amp (LME49720). In addition, the non-magnetic carbon film resistor is directly connected to the circuit board to effectively suppress vibration. Both the components and the assembly method have been carefully optimized to keep the signal-to-noise ratio extremely high. A high silver content solder optimizes all solder contacts for minimal signal loss at the transitions.

Technics SU-G700M2
JENO Engine (Jitter Elimination and Noise Shaping Optimization)
The SU-G700M2 uses a fully digital amplification principle in the output stage including the JENO Engine (Jitter Elimination and Noise Shaping Optimisation) so that the large amount of data in the music signal is transmitted to the loudspeakers true to the original and without loss. Here, too, a consistent orientation to the Technics reference class is implemented. The jitter reduction circuit developed by Technics is also used in the SU-G700M2 to prevent unwanted clock jitter in the entire audible frequency range. In contrast to conventional digital amplifiers, the sound impairment caused by jitter is effectively suppressed. In addition, a unique, high-precision PWM converter circuit is used, which promotes high sound quality. Even music data in the high dynamic range, such as that found in high-resolution music, is converted into PWM signals without loss. For this purpose, the speed and degree as well as the quantization number of the noise shaping have been optimized. These technologies enable an outstandingly natural and detailed reproduction that opens up even the finest nuances in the music to the listener.
.
LAPC (Load Adaptive Phase Calibration)
A speaker’s impedance changes with frequency. The power amplifier must drive the speakers regardless of their specific characteristics. Conventional digital amplifiers drive the loudspeakers via a low-pass filter in the output stage. As a result, the influence of the impedance characteristics of the connected speakers is much greater. Although negative feedback can be used to control the amplitude characteristics of conventional amplifiers, optimization of the phase characteristics is not possible. Therefore, Technics developed an adaptive speaker impedance optimization algorithm. It corrects the impulse response of the speaker using digital signal processing. To do this, he measures the amplitude-phase characteristics of the amplifier with the loudspeakers connected. This new method enables the frequency response characteristics of amplitude and phase to be smoothed, which is not possible with conventional amplifiers. The timing of the resulting amplifier signal leads to a sound image with precise spatiality.
.
High-performance switching power supply Advanced Speed Silent Power Supply
The power supply technology used in the reference model SU-R1000 has been used for improved speaker performance and a better sense of energy. The switching frequency has been increased from the traditional 100kHz band to the 400kHz band to ensure stable supply of voltage and current and reduce the negative impact of modulation noise on audio quality. The device is equipped with the same GaN-FET and SiC SBD as the SU-R1000 to achieve the maximum performance of the high-speed switching power supply system.
In addition, a super-low-noise control is planned for a later phase. It prevents the regulation from decreasing due to the fixed switching frequency and prevents the mixing of noise components with high frequencies. The result is a low-noise and responsive power supply that maximizes the performance of the digital amplifier.
.
High sound quality due to three-part construction
There is a wide variety of circuits in integrated amplifiers, including circuits that handle micro-signals at the inputs and those that handle large currents, such as output circuits and power supply circuits. The SU-G700M2 uses a three-piece construction with partitions between circuit blocks arranged according to the signal level to be processed. This avoids interference between the circuit blocks and achieves clear sound quality. In addition to the three-piece construction, the SU-G700M2 features a bottom chassis with a two-layer construction of 1.2mm and 2mm thick steel plates, a top made of 1.6mm thick steel plates, and a 7mm-thick aluminum front panel for better vibration absorption.
.
Low-noise phono input
PHONO MC input is now supported. A low-noise field effect transistor (FET) in differential parallel connection is used in the input stage to reduce noise. A four-stage gain setting results in optimal adjustment to the pickup system used. This gives the user complete freedom in terms of their equipment and listening environment.
.
Class AA headphone amplifier
The Class AA headphone amplifier has separate amplification circuits for the voltage and current amplification of the headphone signal. An operational amplifier that can handle high currents is responsible for amplifying the current. The high-resolution PWM output signal from the JENO engine is converted into an analog signal with great precision. The result: the headphones are optimally controlled. Regardless of the impedance of the headphones, this technology allows music playback with optimally minimized distortion in an ultra-wide frequency range.
