The new pickups of the Nd line, named after the element neodymium (Nd), are the first MM pickups ever to use a neodymium magnet of the N55 class. The grade N55 is considered a premium material because the material guarantees the highest magnetic flux density (strength of the magnetic field) with the smallest dimensions. This feature is a fundamental prerequisite for the unique design of the Nd cartridges, which Rega has been developing for over 10 years. All cartridges in the Nd line are hand-made by highly qualified Rega employees!<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Advanced technology<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Each Nd5 TA system is carefully handcrafted by highly qualified Rega technicians. The design uses a completely new generator geometry with perfect symmetry to achieve high-precision channel balance. The Nd5 also features optimized pole spacing for excellent linearity and crosstalk. The new Nd5 pickup is manufactured with miniaturized parallel coils wound in-house from 38 micron wire with only 1275 turns. This results in a generator with low inductance and low impedance, which enables significantly improved high frequency reproduction.<\/span><\/p>\n

Nd magnet technology<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

The Nd5 is the first MM system to use a neodymium (Nd) N55 magnet, which is commonly used in moving coil designs (including Rega’s own). It is the world’s most powerful commercially available magnet and a critical component that makes this unique design possible, as it is more powerful than conventional bar magnets.<\/span><\/p>\n

PPS housing<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

The complete assembly is housed in Rega’s tolerance-free, injection-molded housing made of polyphenylene sulfide (PPS), a lightweight and high-strength material. A low-mass TA body reduces stress on the tonearm bearings and supports the free movement that is crucial for precise vinyl playback. The new look was inspired by Rega’s highly successful MC series.<\/span><\/p>\n

Cantilever and stylus profile<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

The Nd3 aluminum needle carrier is equipped with an elliptical precision needle. This stylus cut offers exceptional tracking accuracy and delivers a high level of information from the vinyl surface.<\/span><\/p>\n
