The H200 was designed for listeners seeking a networked amplifier with the power, control, and intelligence needed to bring the entire system together. Along with the A200, it represents one of two paths to music listening: networked, and fully analog. The H200 is the networked solution: an integrated amplifier with streaming capabilities, a DAC, an MM phono input, a headphone output, USB playback, and 150 watts of output power per channel. It combines flexibility and high-end performance in a powerful, elegant component. But the H200 wasn’t designed for features alone. Every detail is engineered to work in concert with the others\u2014with the amplifier at its core and the music as the ultimate priority. <\/span><\/p>\n

Built on control<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

At the heart of the H200 lies a powerful 150-watt analog Class A\/B amplifier section. But the power rating only tells part of the story. Equally crucial is how the amplifier performs when driving real speakers and playing real music. The H200 utilizes Hegel’s SoundEngine2 technology to reduce distortion in real time. Instead of correcting errors after they’ve already passed through the amplifier, SoundEngine2 detects distortion at its source and eliminates it before it can travel further through the signal path. Combined with stability down to 2 ohms, this results in an amplifier that remains clean, authoritative, and controlled, even when the music becomes complex or the speaker load demanding. A damping factor exceeding 4000 gives the H200 firm control over the speaker drivers. Bass notes enter and exit with precision. Rhythms are easier to follow. The USB-A input allows direct playback from USB storage devices with up to 10,000 tracks, while the network connection provides access to streaming platforms, internet radio, podcasts, and local music libraries. The H200 is engineered to make digital music sound as natural, detailed, and immersive as possible. We achieve this because the amplifier, streamer, and DAC are all designed in-house and work together as a single system. Digital performance depends on far more than just the DAC chip. Power supplies, grounding, clocking, signal routing, analog filtering, and integration into the overall product all contribute to how the DAC actually performs. But meticulous digital design isn’t limited to decoding the signal. It must also prevent unwanted noise from reaching the analog amplifier. <\/span><\/p>\n

In an amplifier that integrates streaming, DAC, control systems, and analog amplification into a single chassis, noise control becomes crucial. With the H200, particular attention was paid to protecting the analog circuitry from digital switching noise. For added convenience, the H200 also includes the Hegel Control App. This app offers input selection, volume control, playback commands, access to internet radio and podcasts, and access to music libraries via UPnP and the USB storage input. And because the streaming section is fully integrated into the H200’s hardware and firmware, streaming is fast, stable, and effortless. <\/span><\/p>\n

Made for everyday use<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

A core principle at Hegel is that a good amplifier shouldn’t demand attention every time it’s used. The H200 therefore offers a range of features that simplify everyday music listening. Digital Input Sense can wake the amplifier from standby and select the correct input as soon as a signal is detected. The H200 can also learn the volume commands from a TV remote, allowing everyone in the household to operate it intuitively. Since this works regardless of the selected input, the feature can also be used in more sophisticated systems, such as with an AV receiver connected to one of the analog inputs. A fixed volume level can be assigned to each input. This makes it easy to integrate the H200 into a home theater system or any other setup where the volume is controlled by another component. Power-on volume and maximum volume settings help prevent unexpected volume jumps. Auto-standby reduces unnecessary power consumption. The display dimming is automatic and fully customizable: The display can shine brightly when needed, dim during normal listening, or be switched off completely in a dark room. The H200 also supports Control4, Crestron HOME, and Crestron SIMPL, allowing it to be integrated into more sophisticated smart home systems.
