Are you unable to set up a floorstanding speaker in your living room, or do you prefer to listen to music through a powerful shelf speaker placed on the sideboard or a speaker stand? Then the DALI OBERON 3 with its roughly DIN A4-sized baffle could be the right choice. With its 180 mm (7”) bass-midrange speaker with wood fiber cone and SMC magnet system and the 29 mm OBERON dome tweeter, this model delivers a sound quality that is in no way inferior to that of a slim floorstanding speaker.
This is made possible by the comparatively large membrane surface of the two drivers installed in the OBERON 3 and their particularly wide-angle radiation characteristics. While shelf speakers of comparable size are usually equipped with 165 mm woofers and a 19 or 20 mm dome tweeter, the OBERON 3 uses a 180 mm mid-bass driver and a 29 mm dome. Thanks to the approximately 15% larger membrane area, the drivers can generate a certain sound pressure level with a significantly lower deflection. Therefore, the OBERON 3 sounds extremely dynamic on the one hand, and on the other hand it stages any kind of music or film soundtracks comparatively effortlessly and more pleasantly for the ear.
