The new Dovedale is a further example of Wharfedale’s legacy of loudspeaker design and manufacturing. It combines expert craftsmanship, natural sound quality, and affordability in a beautifully proportioned loudspeaker, which has been sold in its various incarnations by the millions worldwide. The Dovedale bears a distinct family resemblance. It’s a three-way floorstanding model—a rarity these days—that shares similar proportions with the classic Dovedale models of yesteryear. Its wood-veneered cabinet has a vintage look, yet the finish is distinctly contemporary—a tribute to the craftsmanship required to create such a loudspeaker.

The original Dovedale models—dating back to the W2 of 1959, which evolved into the W2/Dovedale in 1965—were known for their rich and natural sound quality. The new model retains these attributes but improves performance across the board, with free-breathing dynamics and incredible definition in the bass and midrange.

Celebrating the 90th anniversary of the Wharfedale brand, the Wharfedale Dovedale is more than just a reintroduction of a classic model. It’s a speaker that exudes authenticity and is designed to appeal to the passionate music lover.

The new Wharfedale SUPER LINTON represents a significant milestone in Wharfedale innovation and is an outstanding addition to the world’s best-selling Heritage range.

This updated model is part of a range of award-winning loudspeakers known for their exceptional musicality, which have captured the hearts of tens of thousands of music lovers. Led by Peter Comeau, Director of Acoustic Design, Wharfedale engineers have redesigned every aspect of the loudspeaker concept, including the cabinet, drivers and crossover. The result of their efforts is the newly redesigned Super Linton.

SUPER DENTON Compact – Speaker

The new SUPER DENTON from Wharfedale is part of Wharfedale’s Heritage series, based on classic designs from Wharfedale’s past but brought up to date with modern chassis, cabinet and crossover technology.

The Heritage range began in 2014 with the anniversary model Denton 80, followed by the Denton 85 and the landmark Linton model, which reignited the passion for traditional, large floorstanding speakers. More recently, the Heritage range has been joined by the high-end Dovedale model, which signalled the return of British manufacturing. The Heritage range underlines why no loudspeaker manufacturer can boast a greater heritage than Wharfedale.

The SUPER DENTON Anniversary speakers are now available in 3 different finishes. Walnut, Mahogany and Black Oak.

Wharfedale Linton Heritage 85.

To honor its history, Wharfedale has launched the replicas of famous models of its past in the Heritage series, completely redesigned using modern techniques and materials. The newest speaker in this collection is the Linton.

The original Linton was launched in 1965 and the line continued in various versions until the late 1970s. It was a classic model of its time, considered a serious hi-fi speaker, but also relatively affordable. Its cabinet was massive, large enough to hold three driver units including a large bass unit, but not overly bulky by the standards of the time.

The new Linton has a clear family resemblance. Again, this is a three-way floor model – a rarity in modern times – with similar proportions to the classic Linton models. Its wood-veneered case has a vintage look, but the finish is decidedly modern.

Retro style, timeless musicality
The Linton takes advantage of its wide baffle by incorporating a large (by modern standards) bass driver with a 200mm Kevlar cone mounted on a rigid die-cast chassis. Above it sits a 135 mm midrange driver, also equipped with a woven Kevlar cone and housed in its own internal enclosure. Finally, a 25mm fabric dome tweeter with a high-performance ferrite magnet handles high frequencies.

The original Linton incarnations of the 1960s and 1970s were known for their rich and natural sound quality; the new model retains these characteristics but improves performance across the board. Its bass is deep and well-defined, its midrange clear and open, with free-breathing dynamics and an extended scale that brings music to life. It’s a sound you can immerse yourself in and lose yourself in as you listen to album after album; a nostalgic nod to the past brought to a future-ready level.

Designed to please
This is a speaker that exudes authenticity and should appeal to the dedicated music lover. In keeping with a design that is meant to be appreciated, the new Linton features handcrafted wood veneers and optional matching stands in a similarly classic style. The rigid metal frame of the stand is custom made to ensure that each speaker is the perfect height for a seated listener. It provides crucial damping of unwanted vibrations and is decorated with wood veneered panels on the top and bottom, which complement the speakers. The design even provides space for record storage within the stand structure.
