Grado RS-1X – reference headphones

Inspired by our 4th generation X drivers, the redesigned RS-1X combines maple, hemp and cocobolo wood into a vibrant and elegant pair of headphones.

For the first time, three different types of wood work together in one Grado headphone. The case consists of a maple cover, a hemp core and a cocobolo outer ring. We’ve used wood for decades for its warm and expansive tonal qualities, but finding the right balance between three different woods is no easy task. The reward, however, is an RS1x that opens up a new level of sound for Grado.

The RS-1X is the first headphone built with the larger 50mm X drivers. Specifically tuned for the Tri-Wood RS-1X, this new speaker design features a stronger magnetic circuit, a voice coil with a reduced effective mass, and a reconfigured diaphragm. Redesigning these components for our 50mm drivers improves efficiency, reduces distortion and preserves the harmonic integrity of your music.
