For the user, this means no fixed usage pattern, but rather free access to preferred services, familiar user interfaces, and diverse streaming ecosystems.

Reference-series technology – for precision, quiet operation and clean signal paths

The P2’s sonic ambitions are evident not only in its features but, above all, in its internal design. LUMIN has adopted key design principles from its Reference series for the P2, combining a high-performance digital architecture with exceptionally sophisticated analog output stages. This brings the P2’s sound closer to the brand’s flagship models than its universal design might initially suggest.

The P2 utilizes two ESS SABRE ES9038PRO DAC chips in a dual-mono configuration, a femto clock system, Lundahl output transformers, and an internal power supply with two toroidal transformers. This sophisticated technology is complemented by a “Fibre Network” connection, which allows for optical integration of the P2 into the home network. This decouples the P2 from the rest of the network, effectively isolating it from digital interference. Especially in demanding systems, this can contribute to a smoother, more stable, and more open sound reproduction. Thus, the P2 combines the technical substance of the top-of-the-line series with measures that are audibly beneficial in practical use.

Leedh Processing: Precise and lossless volume control.

For volume control, LUMIN uses Leedh Processing in the P2. This is a digital volume algorithm that precisely adjusts the signal amplitude without causing unnecessary losses or sonically relevant rounding errors. For the listener, this means that even at reduced volume, dynamics, detail, and sonic substance are convincingly preserved.

This is a crucial advantage, especially in high-end systems, because the P2 can be used not only as a streamer and DAC, but also as a preamplifier. This reduces the number of additional components without compromising on convenience or sound quality.

Universally applicable – from streaming DAC to HiFi hub

Its versatility is one of the P2’s greatest strengths: depending on the system and setup, it can be used as a pure streamer, a high-quality DAC, or a sophisticated preamplifier. When paired with existing power amplifiers or high-quality active speakers, the P2 takes on the role of the central control unit in a demanding hi-fi system. It can be conveniently controlled via the LUMIN app, the premium glass and zinc remote control, or directly from preferred music platforms like Roon.
