The NAD D3020 v2 pays homage to the legendary 3020 amplifier that brought true hi-fi sound to a generation of music lovers in the 1970s and has sold more than a million units cumulatively. The current model now works with the latest digital technology, has the appropriate connections including a phono input and a Bluetooth® aptX™ module.

With the first 3020, NAD succeeded in inspiring a whole generation of music lovers in the 1970s with sales of over 1 million units. With its warm, big and detailed sound, it eclipsed amplifiers that cost up to 10 times as much at the time. And even today, switching to a NAD amplifier is always a great idea, because with a NAD amplifier you get everything you need to listen to good music.

The D 3020 is based on the original in its alignment, but through the use of state-of-the-art technology it skilfully catapults the entire concept into the 21st century and now in a V2 version with phono connection! The use of the latest technology and the equipment with the most modern connections throws a completely new light on the D3020. But like the original from 1970, NAD’s chief developer Björn Erik Edvardsen was responsible for the development. And just like back then, with the 8-channel D/A converter of the D 3020, for example, he ensures that you simply get more quality and much more sophisticated technology.

The 3020 also set new standards when it came to measuring technology. Laboratory technology does not have the last word in the measurement here, but at NAD it is always about real performance, real loudspeakers and real music. The PowerDrive™ technology developed by Edvardsen ensures, for example in the D3020 V2, that significantly more power can be made available dynamically without distortion if required. The amplifier sounds much more powerful and has better control. The D3020 V2 also has a Bass EQ option that makes even small speakers sound a lot bigger.

HybridDigital™ – Class D amplifier

The innovative HybridDigital™ technology is used in the D3020 V2. This is a self-oscillating Class D amplifier that works with active negative feedback. This first converts the analog curve-shaped input signal into a square-wave signal using pulse width modulation (PWM). The music information is now exclusively in the changing pulse width. Since the power transistors only require two switching states – on or off – Hybrid Digital™ Class D amplifiers, in contrast to Class A and B technology, work extremely efficiently and achieve a power yield of more than 90%.
