Rotel RB 1582 MKII stereo amplifier
Rotel’s second-largest stereo amplifier packs a massive 200 watts per channel and easily drives even the largest hi-fi systems. The RB-1582 MKII is capable of driving even large speaker systems with ease. It was developed with the aim of reproducing both the finest details and dynamic impulses with great sovereignty. This balancing act succeeds so excellently because both the basic circuit design and the selection of the optimal components were made with the greatest care.
The basis for the enormous performance of the Rotel RB-1582 MKII is the high-performance power supply, which is based on a generously dimensioned toroidal transformer in conjunction with special storage capacitors that provide no less than 60,000 μF storage capacity. This ensures the outstanding dielectric strength of this powerhouse. The extremely short charging and discharging times of the BHC “slit-foil” capacitors ensure high signal fidelity even when expansive crescendos or rich drum-kick impulses demand the highest performance from this power amp.
After the common toroidal transformer, the two output stage groups are designed as a quasi monoblock design. Grounding is strictly star-shaped. The output stages themselves are discrete; no fewer than ten individual transistors per channel take care of the current amplification. Either balanced XLR or unbalanced cinch sockets serve as inputs.
Loudspeakers with below-average efficiency or complex impedance curves place high demands on an amplifier in terms of output power and load stability. Even large rooms place enormous demands on an amplifier, since only pure performance counts when high sound pressure levels are required. And the Rotel RB-1582 MKII was developed precisely for these purposes.
