THORENS TD 204
The THORENS TD 204 was developed for the audiophile beginner. A record player with sound expansion potential for the advanced user.
The surface finishes “high gloss black” and “high gloss walnut” fit seamlessly into the existing range with the design typical for THORENS. The brand identity is underlined by the high quality of workmanship and guarantees a long service life for all Thorens record players.
The newly developed TP 120 tonearm impresses with its high-quality bearing technology. The use of modern bearings has reduced the bearing play and the friction coefficient to an astonishingly low level for this price range. The TP 120 is a real 9″ aluminum tonearm in J-shape with an effective tonearm mass of just over 15 grams. The visual similarity to the larger models TP 150 and TP 124 is unmistakable and leads us to expect first-class properties.
The removable headshell with SME connector is fitted with an AT95E from the Japanese pickup specialist Audio Technica. Skating compensation is carried out via a spring.
The connection terminal on the back features high-quality RCA cinch sockets for a solid connection to the amplifier. An integrated (switchable/disabled) phono pre enables direct connection to a high-level input.
The turntable, made of precision die-cast aluminum, is set in rotation by a precision-ground drive belt. The frame of the TD 204 rests on four vibration-damping feet.
