Audio Physic Classic 25
The art of pure tone
Continuously improving upon good things is one of Audio Physic’s secrets to success. This is demonstrated once again in the new CLASSIC 25 Last Edition, for which we utilize numerous solutions, materials, and technologies from our Reference line, creating a remarkably mature loudspeaker for this price range that already comes very close to the acoustic capabilities of our larger models.
The CLASSIC 25 Last Edition’s MDF cabinet is elaborately constructed and, thanks to numerous internal braces, exceptionally rigid. In the walnut wood version, natural real wood surfaces meet elegant black glass on the narrow front, conveying understated elegance.
As with its predecessor, the CLASSIC 20, the CLASSIC 25 Last Edition features the sandwich construction of the cabinet, familiar from the Avanti and Midex models, for its high-gloss glass surfaces: The inner MDF cabinet is clad on the outside with panels of back-painted glass, and a special adhesive made of 2-millimeter-thick acrylic strips ensures a permanently elastic bond between the two materials. Because of their completely different resonance properties, these materials can no longer develop their own distinct cabinet sound.
The defined distance also creates a double-glazed effect: sound radiated backwards into the cabinet hardly escapes. This allows the tweeter and midrange drivers to operate undisturbed. You don’t hear a loudspeaker, but only pure music!
An additional advantage of the glass panels is their elegant and extremely durable high-gloss surface – even after years of use and care, it looks as good as new, without losing any of its brilliance or unparalleled depth of color. Such an impressive and lasting surface quality is simply unattainable with conventional paint.
Particular attention was paid to the bass range, as this is where the greatest stresses occur. The newly developed, extremely powerful woofer – a 21.5-centimeter long-throw driver – is not visibly mounted on the front or side, as with many loudspeakers, but operates discreetly inside the cabinet. The sound is directed outwards through two precisely tuned openings.
This special design offers several advantages: Firstly, the CLASSIC 25 Last Edition plays impressively low frequencies while remaining precise and clearly defined at all times. Secondly, it is significantly less sensitive to positioning in the room than conventional designs. Even when placed close to a wall, it impresses with its fine detail and transparency across the entire frequency range.
The CLASSIC 25 Last Edition also features state-of-the-art drivers in its chassis configuration: it utilizes Hyper Holographic tweeters and midrange drivers (HHCT III and HHCM SL). Their special double-basket design ensures that the moving components of the drivers – such as the diaphragm and voice coil – are not directly connected to the baffle, but only decoupled from it.
This additional constructive effort is considerable, but it pays off: The result is a sound image that impresses with exceptional precision, high detail resolution and a very neutral tuning.
All in all, the CLASSIC 25 Last Edition represents a significant step forward in terms of both design and sound compared to its already excellent predecessor. It even comes remarkably close to the structurally similar AVANTI from the Reference line. Within its own price range, the CLASSIC 25 Last Edition has nothing to fear from comparison!
