Audio Physic Tempo SL
The Tempo is a classic in Audio Physic’s product line. Over the years, it has evolved from a 2-way bookshelf speaker to today’s compact 3-way floorstanding speaker. It sounds as good as it looks. Don’t let its size fool you!
The Tempo speakers master the balancing act between superb precision, realistic imaging, and impeccable neutrality better than any Tempo before them. Equipped with the latest Audio Physic developments and meticulously reworked down to the last detail, the Tempo speakers raise the bar significantly once again for living room-friendly floorstanding loudspeakers.
Unparalleled sound pleasure awaits you, true to the Audio Physic maxim: “Nothing But Music”.
The TEMPO speakers appear almost delicate, cleverly concealing the sophisticated technology and intelligent design that make them truly exceptional transducers in their class. Their slim, tall form, with its gentle slope and tapered side panels, reduces stray, and therefore sound-degrading, cabinet vibrations as well as standing waves inside the speakers. Without countermeasures, such vibrations and standing waves quickly result in an undifferentiated, sometimes even booming, sound. The TEMPO’s design combats these problems at their source.
Two high-performance woofers, equipped with rigid aluminum diaphragms, are positioned directly opposite each other on the sides of the TEMPO. The arrangement and wiring of the woofers, using a so-called “push-push” configuration, create a symmetrical distribution of forces on the speaker cabinet during operation. A complete redesign of the bass chamber makes a significant contribution to improving impulse response. Instead of conventional damping material and bracing, open-cell ceramic foam is used. Due to its very large surface area, the damping effect is exceptionally high. At the same time, the pore size of over 85 percent results in only a minimal loss of net volume. The speaker cabinet is very rigid yet remains very compact. The result is a level of precision that is unparalleled in its class.
The tweeters and midrange drivers are exclusive Audio Physic developments; their hybrid basket construction (HHC technology) is unique, combining the damping properties of modern plastics with the stability and torsional rigidity of die-cast aluminum. This effectively prevents sound-degrading interactions between the driver and the supporting chassis basket. The result is a smooth and homogeneous sound image from the fundamental tone to the highest frequencies.
The TEMPO’s HHCM SL midrange driver operates without a spider and, like the tweeter, has its own chamber. In addition to its sophisticated double-basket construction, the midrange driver features a fixed phase plug. Depending on the music and volume, moving systems can heat up considerably, potentially altering certain parameters. The phase plug allows for significantly improved ventilation of the voice coil, efficiently dissipating any heat generated. It also reduces compression effects behind the diaphragm. The TEMPO also utilizes the latest generation HHCT III drivers for its tweeters.
The crossovers were also redesigned, individual components were specifically protected against micro-vibrations, and the internal wiring was meticulously optimized. Last but not least, the TEMPO speakers are equipped with solid aluminum crossbars, the same ones used in the AVANTI series. These ensure easy handling and optimal contact with the surface. The result of these measures: significantly higher resolution, increased homogeneity, and strikingly natural musicality.
The TEMPO’s connection panel is equipped with high-quality WBT nextgenâ„¢ PlasmaProtectâ„¢ binding posts. These are connected to the resonance-damping aluminum base plate via special structure-borne noise dampers. Here, too, micro-vibrations are effectively dampened.
The TEMPO has a magnetic holding system for the front covers.
The TEMPO’s elegant crossbars facilitate setup and guarantee perfect stability on any surface. Thanks to the integrated M8 threads, the TEMPO speakers can be easily upgraded with Audio Physic VCF II Magnetic Plus feet. Their innovative design allows for noticeably improved imaging and sound reproduction. Furthermore, the VCF II Magnetic Plus feet protect delicate floors from scratches.
