The original S1 established the S-Series as a platform for top-tier player technology. The S2 continues this philosophy into a new generation. It combines the award-winning architecture of the LUMIN X1 with the latest LUMIN processor and enhances it with innovative digital inputs.

The dual-toroidal power supply and two-stage voltage regulation are elegantly integrated into a single housing. This retains the proven technical design and attention to detail characteristic of the S-series.

For the first time, a LUMIN player features digital inputs. This allows external digital sources to also benefit from the unique DAC implementation with ESS SABRE ES9038PRO.

The legacy of the X series

The LUMIN S2 adopts the core technologies of the X1, including the dual-mono DAC architecture and the fully balanced analog output stage. This proven foundation is further enhanced by a modern processor and additional connectivity options.

Two ESS SABRE ES9038PRO DACs

The LUMIN S2 uses two high-quality 32-bit DAC chips, each with eight channels, in a dual-mono configuration. Each stereo channel is dedicated to its own top-of-the-line DAC. This architecture enables precise signal processing and offers ample power reserves. With this, LUMIN has achieved its most sophisticated implementation of the SABRE platform to date.

High-quality analog output stage

The fully symmetrical, discrete dual-mono output stage features Lundahl transformers , the same ones used in Lumin’s top-of-the-line models. This proven design has been a key feature of their reference equipment for years, contributing to the best possible signal separation and integrity.

Dual toroidal power supply

The power supply technology with two toroidal transformers, familiar from the X-series, has been adapted for internal installation and appropriately shielded. The result is an elegant single-unit enclosure that retains the advantages of separate power supplies for analog and digital circuits.

Digital inputs for external sources

For the first time, a LUMIN player allows external digital playback devices to be connected directly to the high-quality ESS SABRE ES9038PRO DAC architecture of the LUMIN S2.

CD and SACD transport devices, computers, set-top boxes and game consoles also benefit from the high-quality digital-to-analog conversion of the S2.
