A new benchmark for analogue perfection
In the world of vinyl playback, the cartridge is where the sonic journey begins. The pivotal point where the music rises from the groove and transforms into impressive soundscapes. With the MC X series, Ortofon sets new standards in the development of MC cartridges, pushing premium moving coil technology to unprecedented levels.
Pure silver coil system
All MC X cartridges feature coils made of high-purity silver wire. The use of high-quality materials ensures exceptional signal clarity, reproducing sound with unsurpassed precision and preserving every detail without interference.
Maximum magnetic efficiency: magnetic system
The MC X-Series features a newly developed magnet system with a magnet integrated into the rear
The magnet yoke features a one-piece pole cylinder. This ensures maximum magnetic efficiency and, paired with pure silver coils, a clean, powerful signal path that noticeably enhances sound quality.
Precision engineering for unsurpassed stability
Rubber dampers specially developed for the MC X-Series
The rubber compounds we developed and manufactured ourselves for the MC X series are the central element of the new series’ mechanical damping system. Rubber dampers are essential for controlling coil movements in the magnetic field, ensuring tracking stability, and minimizing unwanted resonances. The result is excellent tracking accuracy, lower distortion, and greater musical precision.
MIM-molded honeycomb core
At the core of the MC X Series is an advanced, honeycomb-shaped stainless steel frame manufactured using Metal Injection Molding (MIM) technology. This refined construction ensures superior mechanical stability and provides the ideal foundation for precise and accurate sound reproduction.
After forming and sintering, a physical vapor deposition (PVD) surface treatment is applied to improve the surface appearance and maintain material integrity over time.
