WHARFEDALE NOVA 15 Active Subwoofer System Black
Powerful bass in a modern guise
The Wharfedale NOVA series was developed to bring more depth, scale, and control to music and home cinema. This new generation of active subwoofers combines meticulously engineered long-throw woofers, ABR-assisted bass tuning, DSP-controlled tone regulation, and powerful Class-D amplifiers.
With four models – NOVA 8, NOVA 10, NOVA 12 and NOVA 15 – the series offers the right solution for different room sizes, systems and requirements. All models share the typical Wharfedale design philosophy.
The NOVA 15 is the largest and most powerful implementation of Wharfedale’s NOVA subwoofer concept. It was designed for large rooms and high-performance stereo or home theater systems. Its active 380 mm driver, combined with ABR-assisted dispersion, advanced DSP, and powerful Class D amplification, delivers bass of exceptional size, impact, and precision.
With a frequency response down to 28 Hz (-6 dB), the NOVA 15 is not just about playing deeper – it was designed to reproduce demanding low-frequency content with the punch, headroom and physical presence that larger listening environments require.
Deep bass without a bass reflex port ; ABR-assisted bass tuning
All NOVA models feature a downward-firing, mass-loaded ABR (Auxiliary Bass Radiator) with an elaborate double-corrugated construction.
The ABR works in conjunction with the active woofer, extending its low-frequency response without requiring a traditional bass reflex port. This allows NOVA to deliver impressively deep bass from relatively compact enclosures while avoiding typical port noise, compression effects, and unwanted resonances that can occur with bass reflex systems.
Intelligent DSP control. Balanced bass at any volume.
The NOVA subwoofers utilize advanced DSP control to adjust the low-frequency response to the current volume level in real time. This ensures that the bass remains full, natural, and balanced across a wide volume range.
From quiet evening listening to high volume levels, the DSP-controlled Dynamic EQ function ensures that the subwoofer’s dynamic response is continuously adapted to the input signal. This keeps the bass reproduction balanced and controlled at varying volumes and with a wide range of program material.
For music and home cinema: Two modes for different requirements
Each NOVA subwoofer features two DSP-controlled operating modes. Music Mode focuses on speed, precision, and controlled integration with the main speakers. Movie Mode, on the other hand, is tuned for more powerful bass reproduction with increased impact and dynamics for movie soundtracks.
By specifically adjusting the DSP tuning to different content, the bass in Music Mode remains precise, articulate, and harmoniously integrated into the stereo system. In Movie Mode, on the other hand, the focus is on more depth, scale, and dynamic impact for a more immersive home theater experience.
